What is Body Psychology?
A body psychologist is a hands-on professional who specialises in the integration of the mind and body in psychological well-being and healing. Body psychology emphasises the connection between a person's emotional, mental, and physical experiences and how they affect overall health.
Boniface believes that the body holds valuable information and wisdom about a person's psychological state. He explores the ways in which emotions, thoughts, and traumas can be stored in the body, leading to physical symptoms, tension, or disconnection. By working with the body and its sensations, Boniface aims to promote healing, self-awareness, and personal growth.
Drawing on his background in manual therapy, Boniface uses various therapeutic approaches, such as body‑centred psychotherapy, somatic experiencing, craniosacral therapy, sensorimotor therapy and other body–mind integration techniques. He also incorporates breath work, movement exercises, mindfulness, touch and guided visualisation to help clients explore and release tension, trauma or other unresolved emotional experiences.
Boniface often works with individuals who have experienced trauma, acute and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, or stress-related disorders or symptoms. He helps patients develop a deeper understanding of their physical and emotional experiences, supporting them in cultivating resilience, self-regulation, and a greater sense of self and well-being.
It's important to note that the term "body psychologist" may not be universally recognised or standardised across all psychological or therapeutic practices. Different professionals may have their own unique approaches or variations of body-centred therapies.I personally employ a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture and neuroceptive techniques. I am not a psychotherapist nor do I aim to be one.

“The “vertical thinking” of all current practices compartmentalises the psyche as separate to the body - with the two fields of knowledge acknowledging one another but yet never entwined… The pathways and patterns are not different like cars on a road and planes in the sky… indeed being healthy and free from distress is much more like a sail boat… a human is either afloat or sinking. One can mend broken sails but it matters not if the seas are stormy.”
